Happy Halloween!!

Happy Halloween Everybody!! Today, I would love to share a sweet little Treat of a project that I created with the Scraps Of Darkness October Kit~ Bon Appetit!! It is a sewn manilla folder pocket journal that gives you lots of tags and spaces for attaching photos, for journaling and for tucking in some memories of your own!

I used lots of  layers of the papers, fussy cut images from the papers, and one side of the gates, all from the kit. The corrugated card board piece was created by spraying exposed corrugated board with the YUMMY Dyllusions Spray that was also in the kit, and then inking the edges and raised edges and adding some pulled cheesecloth.

The flower layer, contains flowers from this month's Floral Add On and some feathers, and the large flower was from a past kit and I topped it with a Timeless Rhinestone and Pearl Button that you can find in my Reneabouquets Etsy and Reneabouquets.com Store.

Here you can see the 8-double sided tags after they are untucked and unclipped.

Have a wonderful and safe Halloween Weekend and try (you did notice that I said try), not to eat too much candy!!! Hugs and a BOO~ Renea

All Hallow's Eve~Scraps Of Darkness October Kit~Bon Appetit!!

OK I have to admit, as the weather starts to get cooler and Fall starts to slide onto the scene, I begin to feel a little twitch of anticipation about what the Scraps Of Darkness Halloween Kit is going to be like!! Our kits are soooo gorgeous, but the Halloween Kit is always the one that I anticipate the most, knowing that Melinda's FAV time of the year is Halloween and that she always puts together something spectacular for us to work with!!

Well, the wait is over, and it was so worth it!! It is filled with lots of Spooktacular surprises and whether you love Halloween or not, this kit offers up items that will have everyone Salivating~so Bon Appetit!!

I created my first project with the kit, and decided on a layout that has a dark yet Vintage feel to it. I used a gorgeous photo of one of my German Artist aquantances, MADmoiselle Meli with her permission. Meli is a super talented Artist, Model, Costume Designer and Deviant Artist and you can find her work here:

To get the background, I layered in kit and paper add on sheets, distressing, tearing, punching and rolling the 2nd layer, and then splatter painting the edges with some Shimmerz paint that was in a past kit.

I then layered in some black lace, a large Doily from the kit, and then fussy cut out the Haunted House from the papers.

I then layered in more layers of distressed papers, topped them with my photo, and then fussy cut out some of the Zombie hands from the sticker sheet in the kit and tucked them into the layers behind the photo.

At the bottom corner where the house is, I layered in orange and white glitter tulle, flowers from this month's floral add on, and a small Prima Clock Face

I fussy cut out the "All Hallows' Eve" sign from some of the papers and bent it over the lace and fussy cut lace pieces. I then added another Prima Clock Face, some distress painted chipboard clock hands, and one of the skull buttons from the kit.

On the top right hand corner I layered in a piece of the lace, some more tulle, more flowers and another clock face. I topped the layout off with a set of 2 of my hand crafted Witch's Brew Butterflies from my Reneabouquets Etsy And Reneabouquets.com Store.

Thank you so much for joining me for this anticipated Scraps Of Darkness Halloween Kit!! I hope you have a Spooktacular Halloween and that it is full of lots of Treats and No Tricks!! Hugs ~Renea

Enjoying Nature With The Scraps Of Darkness September Kit~Transition

I loved all the natural elements that Melinda put in the Scraps Of Darkness September Kit Transitions, and here I have a matching card & tag set that I did that combined some really YUMMY texture and those natural elements.

I put these together using the kit papers, the ribbon, leaves and ephemera pieces  from the kit, and flowers from the kit, this month's floral add on past kits.

This is the card that features an "Enjoy Nature" theme.

To get all the textural pieces, I cut the the wired edges off the trim, and then pulled some of the strings from the sides of the trim and tucked them in with the ribbon to get lots of visually appealing layers.

To get the color work in the background, I stipple painted on some Jacquard Green Paint then spritzed with some Tim Holtz Tarnished Brass Spray Stain. The broken wood pieces are some thin Balsa wood that I broke into pieces and tucked in.

Here is the inside of the card.

And here is the backside.

I created a matching oversize tag using some of the same elements from the kit and my stash.

Once again, adding lots of texture.

The sweet little metal bee charm was in the Ephemera pack from the kit.

The finished back side of the tag.

I hope you have enjoyed my natural elements tag and card set!! Remember to take the time to Enjoy Nature and to Bee Kind!! Hugs ~Renea

She Is The Sweetest!!

TGIF everybody!!! Before we slide into the weekend, I have a layout that I would love to share with you. I used the Scraps Of Elegance October Kit~ Pretty things to create a layout that features a photo that my Sis, Tammy took of her daughter (my niece) Megan. Megan is just the sweetest thing!! She is really down to earth, beautiful inside and out, and she just recently made me a Great Aunt!! Megan is a super girlie-girl so all the soft feminine elements to this month's kit helped me to capture her perfectly:

I took layers of the kit paper, and on the second layer, I did some tearing, punching, and sewing,

Some heavy distressing and inking with Tim Holtz Tattered Rose Ink, and some misting with Prima

I then layered in more layers of distressed kit papers, along with some torn book pages that I upcycled, and then added my photo of Megan.

I fussy cut out the pink border from some of the papers.

I did some underlay stamping with a Tim Holtz Distress Damask Stamp and Tim Holtz Black Soot Ink,

then took the Blue Fern Chipboard piece from the kit and distress painted it with white acrylic paint then sprinkled on some of my Reneabouquets Teal Chunky Glitter Glass. The Soft Teal Glitter Glass Butterflies that you see on this layout are my HandCrafted Butterflies that I make for my shops.

I added on the white Prima floral vine from this month's Scraps Of Elegance Floral Ad On, and then topped it with some cheesecloth,  a Prima Turquoise Winthrop Flower, a Prima Resin Bird.

I then made a peek a boo at the bottom and topped it with another piece of the Winthrop Flower Package, and added some cheesecloth and a little Prima Bird's Nest.

I did some more underlay stamping with the large Damask stamp from the same TH set, added one of the Bo Bunny pieces from the kit, that I topped with the remainder of my Winthrop pieces.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!! I know it is supposed to be pretty around here for the weekend, so hopefully I can get decorated for Halloween! Hugs~Renea

Altering A Hard Back Book Cover With The Scraps Of Elegance Pretty Things Kit

I love finding ways to take something old and making it new again! I am an avid reader and I still love the feel of a hard back book every once in a while. I have quite a few old books on my shelves and I love to take one out, rip it apart and turn it into something usable.
For this project, I used the Scraps Of Elegance October Kit~Pretty things and 1/2 of an old hard back book cover to create a beautiful, Vintage look piece that you can hang in a room, and on the back side  there is a pocket that houses some tags that you can use as book marks or to journal on or keep some of your FAV memories on.

I started with the book cover and layered on some of the gorgeous lace from the kit. I coated it with some fabric Stiffy so that when it hangs the lace doesn't lay down. I added layers of the kit paper, and started adding the details.

To add texture to the paper, I distressed the edges then inked them with some Tim Holtz Bundled Sage Ink, and painted the pages with some Prima Platinum Crackle Paste, after it dried, I misted the the paste with Tim Holtz Brushed Pewter Spray Stain to bring out the crackle.

Behind the photo I layered in canvas that I sprayed with some Prima Bloom Spray in Cotton Candy, and added a Vintage photo that I purchased from Digital Collage Sheets.

I added some Crochet Lace #004 from my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop and then layered on a sweet little bird that I fussy cut from the paper, a large flower from the Flower Add On and some stash flowers from past kits. I then tucked in a little Prima Oval Resin Frame and a set of my Shabby Pink Roses Dragonflies.

On the back side, I formed a pocket and then created pieces from the kit papers and Die Cuts that can be used as book marks or journaling tags.

Here are the double sided pieces untucked from the pocket.

I just love Pretty Things and the Scraps Of Elegance October Kit makes putting some really Pretty Things together such fun!!! I hope you get a chance to grab a kit, or some scrappy supplies and create some of your very own Pretty Things this week! Hugs ~Renea

My Happy Place Created With The Scraps Of Elegance~Pretty Things Kit & Mood Board

Over on the Scraps Of Darkness/Scrapsof Elegance Facebook Community Page, we do a monthly Mood Board and this month, we have a wonderful Fall/Autumn one to use:

The following is my take on this month's Mood Board . I took my inspiration from those peach, brown, and rust colors, then threw in some textures, like those that you see in the photos and then I took a photo of a pair of my worn boots and some Grace And Lace boot socks sitting on my front porch that reminded me of the ones in the photo, and got busy with the Scraps Of Elegance October Kit~Pretty Things.

I used the papers from the kit, one for the bottom then a second layer that I cut down and then did some paper curling on to expose the matching paper underneath, some punching to add visual address, and addedsome burlap string bows and some of the Blue Fern Chipboard from the Embellishment Add On that I sprayed with some Prima Color Bloom in Gilded then inked over with some Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Ink from my Reneabouquets Shops.

I then layered in burlapand more paper layers as well as some of the Bo Bunny pieces that were in the kit, a wooden tag from the Embellishment Add On that I put one of the stickers and Bo Bunny Brads from the EAO onto. I added pieces of the gorgeous Trim from the Embellishment Add On cheesecloth flowers from the kit, Floral Add On and some Prima Fifth Avenue Flowers  and Prima Swirl Resins that I carry in my Reneabouquets Shops.

Here you can see all the layering and misting that I did.
The Peaches & Cream Reneabouquets Butterflies were created by me for this month's kit.

Here you can see all the dimension that the paper curling lends to the layout.

More of the details.

The sweet little frog die cut is from the Reneabouquets Vintage Ephemera Pack that I carry in my shops. I design, draw and gussy all these pieces up myself.

The Mushroom Die Cut also comes in that same Vintage Ephemera Pack.

Thank you so much for dropping by to check out my Mood Board Inspired Layout! I love when the cool Fall weather rolls in around here and I can slide into my boot socks, boots and soft warm clothes!! I hope you find some comfort in whatever Season your place of residence is having right now!! Me and my IRL friend, Tracy are heading off to the Smoky Mountain Rubber Stamp and Scrapbook Getaway in Sevierville this Saturday. If you happen to catch a glimpse of me, be sure to stop and say Hello!! Hugs~ Renea

Queen Bee Pocket Journal Created With The Scraps Of Darkness~Transistion Kit

I just love the Yummy Fall Colors in the Scraps Of Darkness September Kit~Transition!!

For the following project I used lots of paper pieces, paper layers, and flowers from the kit to create a pocket journal that has pull out pieces that you can journal on, add small photos to and collect some of your favorite Fall memories with~

I created the pocket from some of the kit paper, ran some Crochet Lace down the cut that forms the pocket,  then distressed and inked a second layer of paper.

I then grunged up some corrugated board using some Ranger Texure PastePrima Color Bloom Spray In Gilded, Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Rustic and Tarnished Brass, and then I inked over it with Vintage Photo Ink. While the texture paste was still wet, I sprinkled on some Reneabouquets Chunky Glitter Glass in Spice, and added some Gold Microbeads.

I then Die Cut some of the paper, added on one of the Ephemera pieces from the kit. Then I used a digital Queen Bee Image Freebie and mounted it in a Prima Oval Resin Frame. I added a little Vintage Metal Spoon, and a large flower from the kit.

To top it off I added some Reneabouquets Harmony Butterflies with Copper Antennas.

Here you can see all the pieces untucked from the pocket.

Thank you so much for dropping by and checking out my pocket journal!! I hope you have a great day, and many Fall Days full of memories! Hugs ~Renea
